    Perfect for mild weather hiking

    il y a 8 jours
I’ve been wearing these under my hiking shirt this late winter/spring. It’s been in the mid twenties up to the fifties so pretty mild for Montana. It wicks the sweat off really well and because it’s wool it doesn’t get that nasty BO smell. The fit is true to size and the quarter zip is really nice for some precision temperature regulation. I would recommend this base layer for mild weather if standing around and mid 20°s if active.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 200 Oasis Half Zip is a very comfortable short out of the box. At first I was cautious about it because it felt so light compared to other similar 1/4 zip shirts I have used in the past. The Oasis 200 is light and breathable alone or best used as a base layer. to be honest I only needed this shirt and a vest at camp with temps down in the upper 40's. Obviously this shirt is best used as a baselayer, the half zip feature allows for plenty of ventilation if needed so you can easily scale how much warmth is needed very easily. I never felt I was too hot in this short however, I am used to merino wool 300 or heavier 1/4 zips. I throughly enjoyed this merino wool 200 shirt and the antimicrobial properties of wool does not develop a smell like some cheaper verison. IcebreakerUS did a very good job on this shirt. My only con for this shirt, which is why I gave it an 8, is it could be a little longer to tuck in as a base layer. Other than that this is a fantastic baselayer wool shirt! Full disclosure icebreaker US gave me this free product to try, however that had no sway to my review or decision.

    Comfortable Baselayer

    il y a 5 mois
I really like the fit, feel and performance of this as a baselayer. I've worn it from house chores to runs and it performs wonderfully at either end of the spectrum. The quarter zip and wool makes it breathable and comfortable when working hard. This is a great option for anyone looking for a comfortable, do everything, merino quarter zip.

Merino performance but not as good as previous versions

    il y a 5 mois
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Icebreaker layers have been my go-to for cold weather, high-output activities for nearly a decade and I was excited when Icebreaker US gave this to me to try for free. As always, my reviews are as unbiased and impartial as I can make them. My first impression upon putting on this piece was that it had the classic Icebreaker base layer fit I'm used to, but the material felt noticeably different. The material of this iteration of the Oasis long sleeve is much scratchier than the previous version I've used and I haven't found that the fabric has gotten softer. Usually, merino will be a tiny bit scratchy when fresh out the box, but quickly soften after a few washes and wears. Not this one. This material feels like it's still just a tiny bit scratchy even after a month of use. It's not uncomfortable, but enough to notice and be the slightest bit annoying. Otherwise, this is exactly what you would expect from a high performance merino layer. It breaths well, it wicks moisture well, and it never gets too stinky (I ran three days in a row in 65F without washing it and only then did it smell). The half zipper is also nice to dump heat when you're working hard. I have found this base layer and a shell are all I need for the vast majority of cold weather, high output activities I do here in Colorado. If it's really cold, I'll put a mid layer on over this but I don't need it most of the time as long as I'm moving. I also like the flexibility of the Oasis for earlier morning/later evening runs because it thermoregulates well and I don't need to be constantly taking off/putting on layers while I'm running or skiing (or fiddling with zippers and gloves). The fit is pretty much unchanged from other Icebreaker Oasis layers I've worn: form fitting enough for athletic bodies but still with some room to move for larger proportions. I am "manikin" medium and the medium fit me perfectly. Also, I've previously railed against Icebreaker's tags because they come off but leave a sticky, black residue (which gets on the back of my neck...yuck). They fixed this by printing the size and garment details straight onto the fabric. No more mess! Thanks for fixing this, Icebreaker! Overall, this is a great piece and performs as well as you would expect from Icebreaker but might not be the best layer for someone who is more sensitive to wool. If Icebreaker can improve their fabric for next year, this will be the perfect base layer (also if they can put in thumb holes!!).

Perfect Layer for casual wearing or performance

    il y a 5 mois
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Merino wool layer was great for a variety of conditions. Whether that was lounging around at camp or hiking some of the high peaks in the Adirondacks it handled it all exceptionally. It was very comfortable with no chafing and was really soft. I had no problems with odor control even after wearing it for multiple hours on long hikes. It breathes well, keeps me warm when it’s chilly and cool if it’s a bit warm. I plan to use this as a layer during my upcoming snowboard season as well. I am a short, muscular build guy and the size large was a good fit. A little long in the arms but I’ve come to expect that in the things I wear. I’m sure it would be fine if you were about 6-8 inches taller than I am. Material stretches well and I couldn’t feel the seams which is always a huge plus. icebreaker US gave me this free product to try

    Breathable, Comfy, & Professional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Oasis Long Sleeve Half Zip has been an amazing part of my wardrobe as fall comes around. This thing breathes incredibly well, so it handles all kinds of temperatures in the wet or dry really well. Even though sometimes merino can be scratchy, this material is really comfortable to! Can’t recommend it enough. Big thanks to icebreaker US, who gave me this free product to try.

    Great lightweight half-zip/base-layer!

    il y a 5 mois
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] icebreaker US gave me this free product to try. I used this half zip on a recent backpacking trip in desolation wilderness, and honestly performed really well for me there. The temperatures dipped into the low 40s, and it wouldn’t have kept me warm on its own, but it served as a great base layer underneath a warmer shell. The icebreakers strength lies in its ability to keep yourself from overheating while exerting yourself, which made it great to wear while hiking. If you’re looking strictly for warmth, there’s warmer sweaters out there, but this will be great for the active person who wants something that wicks moisture well. Added a bonus of the Merino wool is that it didn’t smell at all after the backpacking trip!

    Great base or mid layer

    il y a 5 mois
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free for testing. Overall I think this product is a great base layer or mid layer. It’s a secure and athletic fit. I’m a true medium and this fit well as a base or mid layer. For a base layer I would see myself using it for skiing and for a mid it’s perfect with a t shirt under and using this as a mid for a fall or winter run. Like I said it’s on the snug side but does a great job with moisture wicking and keeping me at the right temperature even when it’s sweaty. Overall I think this is a great piece and I would recommend it.
