The hat is warm in -15C conditions and the peak on the hat is great for sunny days. Unfortunately the motorcycle helmet type clasp is terrible. It's actually two small rectangles made of very thin material that is difficult to use especially when your fingers are cold. I snap button or Velcro would have been a much better solution.

Gave 3 men in my family, 20 yr old, 30 yr old, 50 yr old. All 3 LOVE this hat. Great at -20 degrees!

I haven't tested it in winter conditions yet because I bought it in spring. It's very comfortable and warm (faux fur inside) and the positive reviews make me optimistic. I'm a woman with I think a big head or just very thick long hair which I must tie in a pony tail when shoveling snow so hats are often a problem. This one isn't a problem. It's snug on me (medium) but comfortable. I also wear glasses which is the reason for the visor. Shovelling snow I find a coat hood not only blocks my peripheral vision but also I get too hot working up a sweat and my glasses fog up so I can't see anything. I always have to slide the hood off, then my glasses get snowed on and I can't see anthing. As for the complaints about the clasp I've decided to just add my own version. Either with velcro which you can get at dollar stores, probably the sew on kind because I don't know how well peel and stick glue will last in winter or I may use the many laces and quick push and pull clasps I've saved from old coats or drawstring scrub/jogging pants, maybe even those hockey laces I picked up in a clearance bin at Loblaws of all places. I'm not even sure a chin tie is always necessary. The thing that would make this the perfect snow shovelling/ take out the garbage/ go to the community mailbox or cornerstore/ just go for a walk hat would be a battery operated on/off switch lighted visor for the night.

Great look and fit! Wish the closer was a snap rather than a buckle- difficult to close.

Very soft keeps my head warm and ears. I walk everyday around my pond and it keeps the cold wind out.

Does the job at a reasonable price. The tie strap could be improved. You need to loop it through 2 metal links and the width of the strap is a shade too wide to do this easily since it is wider than the metal loop it needs to thread. This strap should have been velcro'd to make it easier and faster to connect. Material is synthetic and I would have preferred natural but that would have driven up the cost considerably.
