Rated 4 de 5 de par A goof boot but I have been walking in these boots this winter. I live in a small town so walking is done on packed snow on the streets. They give good traction on slippery streets other than glass hard ice and snow. Then there is not the traction I would like. Do not expect them to be as good as the studs. A big advantage over studs is not having anything to remove when going into stores to shop. They could use more insulation. In real cold weather you have to keep moving to keep your feet warm.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Well made boot. I bought these boots and they are very warm. They give very good ankle support. The tread has excellent grip on icy surfaces as advertised.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Grandson loves them Bought them for grandson. I cannot 'rate' them as I've never worn them; however, grandson loves them

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor on Ice or Rain and Snow mixed I have been wearing it for 3 days now. The shoe is definitely waterproof and it keeps heat inside but when it comes to the grip, it is not sufficient. I could have slipped 4 times today only. I consider that the grip is not working as expected on icy or snow rain surfaces. I also usually wear number 8 and I had to use 10 on this one to be comfortable because the front is a bit narrow. Well for $180+tax, I definitely won’t recommend it

Rated 3 de 5 de par Ok for Courier use I'm a Courier and needed something waterproof and fairly nimble. The Arctic Grip feature seems to improve traction on the ice, but not substantially from my limited experience so far. They're fairly comfortable, but a little bulky with the rubber shell toe, though it's necessary for true "Waterproof." They're warm enough for in/out of the truck all day, but my feet get cold if I'm outside for a couple hours at a time - and that's while wearing wool socks.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Narrow fit I thought they would form to my foot. I went with a size 10 for more width. Normal size is 8.5. The hard rubber will not form to my foot. I can’t wear them. Waste of money. Very narrow fit.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Value I haven't had these very long, but I did get hit with a day full of snow, and freezing rain. I walk 7 Km to work, and 7km from work every day. I'm very hard on foot wear, I'll update at some point if the tread life is miserable, but so far I have no indication of that. The Vibram Arctic grip does exactly as advertised, You are not getting Crampon-MicroSpike level of grip.. but there is a significant difference in the level of grip, versus a standard Vibram sole. You still need to be balanced, and sure footed, but the difference is very noticeable. The boots have sloshed through Kilometers of puddles, snow and slush, kept me dry as a bone, and warm.. very warm, potentially too warm some days.... Very firm boot, rigid, and comfortable, I put them on and walked, no discomfort, pain, aches.. Great product.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Very good winter boot with ice grip I recently bought a pair of the Merrell Thermo Adventure winter boots and had the opportunity to check them out under different winter conditions. I walk everyday approximately 4 km on sidewalks and forested trails and have walked in the boots in -15 degree Celsius temperature so far. The boots were very comfortable and warm (wearing one pair of hiking socks) and the grip stayed flexible. I also had the chance to try them on icy sidewalks after a freezing rain and on crusty icy paths. I was not disappointed with the grip on the icy trails or sidewalks. On the icy rutted trails, the boot provided sufficient ankle support. I tested them under conditions where I would normally have used ice cleats yet felt sure footed with just the Vibram Arctic grips. I have not had them long enough to comment on wear but they seem well built. My only minor gripe is with the boot laces loosening up a bit while walking but that can be easily remedied with different boot laces if needed (or just double knotting them). I purchased them on sale and in my opinion were a good value for the money spent.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Rugged and long lasting Bought these about 2 years ago, been wearing them almost every day since, and that says a lot when I'm working up in Canada! Very comfortable in all climates and a good amount of cushion for each step. I would definitely buy these again and recommend to a friend.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Love these boots! I'm originally from Winnipeg, so after moving to Ottawa, I have never really felt challenged by winter here. My wife, originally from Toronto, is another story. She went in specifically for boots with Arctic Grip and because I was there, and because there was a sale, I bought these for myself. I'm glad I did. I LOVE them. So comfortable! I leave the laces tied loosely and slip them on. IF there is ice, but NO fresh snow (like there was here in Ottawa after the big melt and refreeze), these boots work fabulously. If there is snow on top of the ice, the Arctic Grip is no better than any other boot. In deep snow, they work great of course. I highly recommend these boots!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Sturdy Boots I slipped on the ice and broke my leg. Last year I fell and broke 6 ribs. I determined not to do it again. The sole gives excellent traction on ice. I feel secure and the boots are comfortable. Well worth the price I think.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent Boots Great boot if you do lots of winter walking, light weight and comfortable, feet stay dry, good traction but you still need ice cleats if you get winter rain

Rated 4 de 5 de par Nice Boots Bought these boots for my husband a few weeks again and so far they are great. Even in -30 weather, keep feet warm.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Warm winter boots with decent grip Had several pairs of Merrill boots which are great boots but hard soles are often very slippery on ice. Tried these and they are very good in most winter conditions except polished ice.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good boot, but not great on ice I specifically bought these boots due to their supposedly being good on ice (Vibram Arctic grip). The boots are comfortable and warm, however, I find that they are no better on icy sidewalks than my running shoes.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Very comfy True to size. Have not tried it in the snow or at subzero temperatures but very comfortable to wear and walk in. Easy to take off despit going higher than ankle level. Wore it and walked for about 1.5 hours at outdoor temperature of about 10 degrees celsius and did not notice buildup of moisture on the inside. High top boots usually ache my ankles but this shoe doesn’t. Relatively light weight for a winter boot. Warm. I wish the design incorporated some more colour accents in addition to the bluish lace loops that it has. steep price but might be worth it if it performs well in the winter.
